Record Index

The records are organized by date, by name and by place. In general, the names have been spelled exactly as they appear in the church records, apart from obvious errors. E.g. you will find "Dicconson", "Dickinson", "Diconson" and "Dyconson". In the records organised by date, and up to 1800, a relative of the deceased is also shown, e.g. "w. of Thomas", meaning "wife of Thomas". "nd", for example means "natural daughter" - i.e. born out of wedlock. An asterisk after the name indicates that the relative had predeceased.

In the records, graves are numbered with different prefixes, depending on their date and location. Two sets of references for the church graveyard are given. Burials until the end of 1862 are in the format "CG_" followed by a letter and number, e.g. CG_P12, and may be found on the map of early graves in column "P" and row "12". Burials in the church graveyard from 1863 onwards are in the format "CG" followed by a grave number, e.g. CG234 and may be found on the map of churchyard graves. Graves in the new graveyard, along the track to the west of the church are prefixed by "NG" followed by a grave number, e.g. NG0456, and may be found on the map of the new graveyard.

There is an area on the south side of the church where ashes are deposited. These are referenced by the prefix "SS". See the ashes plan.

Memorials and plaques in and around the church are prefixed with "MP".

(A) following a grave number indicates that ashes were deposited there.

Note that the headstone is not necessarily located above the grave of the person mentioned on the headstone. For example a husband and wife may be in adjacent graves. There are even instances of headstone and grave being in different graveyards. If you do not see an image after clicking on a headstone link, check that javascript is enabled and that your browser allows popups. The only browser/platform combination that does not yet seem to work is Opera Mini on the iPad.
